Description

It is a moderately cespitose specie, medium-sized palm, with several stems grouped in 2 to 15 trunks that arise from the base of the main axis, each stem reaches 15 meters in height and 10 to 20 centimeters in diameter. Its fruits are small, ovoid or globular, green, turning purple-black when ripe.

Use

The fruits are processed into wine and oil for cooking, hair care, asthma and rash treatment. The seeds are used in making handicrafts. The leaves are used for roofing houses. The rachis of the leaves are used to make baskets and sifters.
