Description

Its name comes from Quechua > quillo (yellow) + sisa (flower). It is found in Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela. The plant reaches a height of 30 meters high and 60 centimeters in diameter. Its bark has longitudinal cracks from which exudes a yellowish crystalline gum. Its leaves are simple, 8 to 10 centimeters long, yellowish on the upper side, with hairs on the underside. It has yellow flowers with coppery hairs. Its fruit is elongated with verrucous surface, divided into three parts.

Uses

Its wood is used for making indoor furniture.

It is an endangered species, ideal for local loggers for its durable and insect resistant wood. For this reason, reforestation and conservation play a fundamental role in ensuring its long-term survival.
