Curiosities

Etymology of Açai. The name of the genus Euterpe comes from the muse of music called Euterpe in ancient Greek mythology. It symbolized joy and good humor, and this botanical genus is designated to slender palms with pinnate leaves. Açaí is the Portuguese derivation of the word ïwasa’í, which in the Tupi language (vernacular of the Amazonian tribes) means “the part of the fruit that cries”.
